The course will cover:

  • Review basic physics i.e. 1st and 2nd Laws of Thermodynamics and other basic energy definitions
  • Who consumes the most electricity in the world and how does that impact our planet
  • Each of the common energy sources used in the generation of electricity is discussed including: coal, natural gas, nuclear, hydroelectric, geothermal, wind and solar. Tidal wave will be briefly depicted
  • Examples of existing power generating entities will be presented as well as capabilities, advantages, disadvantages, life cycle, costs and emissions.
  • Finally a comparison of what it would take for each energy source to generate one gigawatt-hour of electricity 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
